As mentioned in my original post I would really like to do member profiles for MM (including Alum), I truly believe that the best way to know what a club, organization, business, etc. is really about is by getting to know the team/members behind it. For example, a social fraternity can SAY they're all about philanthropy but then you take the time to talk to the members and that is the last thing on their mind. If you talk to current members about MM (no matter the level of rice) track time will most likely be mentioned. Another aspect of MM that I would like to highlight is the comradery within the club. This will be highlighted via social media posts.
On top of making the member profiles, I would also like to create videos about MM group experiences (stuff like C&C) track experiences at VIR, autocross, East Side, etc.. These could be something as simple as a 20-30 second Instagram/Facebook video with text or a more in-depth detail orientated video OR both.
I'd like to collaborate with City Motors and Mr. Tire Auto Service Center. The owner was one of the first people that I met in the Harrisonburg car community and was a former student at JMU (a long time ago). He has expressed interest to me in holding events at like C&C (at later times) when the weather is warm at both of his businesses. He also has close ties with the owners of Mr. J's which have also expressed the same interest to him. I'm also good friends with another local that works with CJ Pony Parts that may be open to doing a tour around the CJ headquarters or something along those lines. I'd also like to do some sort of detailing or vinyl wrap lesson with Max Shumeyko.
Hopefully, this answered your questions! Let me know if you'd like more details on anything mentioned or if I forgot something.
Well, Jake, I think I'd have to talk to you a little bit more about keeping the website up to date as far as actually changing/updating things on there consists of as in do I actually go in and add stuff (I ask this because the "latest news" section is not the latest news haha). That being I said, I think you hit the nail on the head as far as keeping the website as our "main face" and using it to funnel people towards our social media.
I see Twitter for us being used primarily for tracking our events and like Taylor said, linking to more information.
Taylor, ask all the questions! I don't mind haha
I think Twitter would be a great platform for a kind of informal calendar. I say this because if I'm an officer we WILL have a badass calendar that is readily accessible to all members, uggghhh I'm getting all excited just thinking about it.
I didn't touch on the following because I thought of all of it as a sort "well duh" type of thing.
3 Is actually the first thing I ever did on the forums after my introduction
4-7 I would do naturally in all honesty
3. Creating event threads with useful information
4. Help plan and run meetings - Create agendas for meetings (work with Jackson) so that everyone knows what you'll be talking about and can shape the discussion, take notes during the meetings and post the notes here on the forum for people who missed the meeting
5. Spread the word about the club (not to everyone. Keep the hooligans and randoms away)
6. Reach out to other groups and clubs. Stay close to CCVT and other car clubs, keep a relationship with MAAP
7. Assist the other officers. Just because it's not your "job" doesn't mean you shouldn't help or do it if someone else can't

(03-30-2018, 08:32 AM)Jake Wrote: Nice post and I like the ideas - I think the club has been at its strongest in the past when we had someone who was very media-focused. Being able to create and cultivate a high-quality, consistent "brand" for MM would go a long way. I like the video idea - Goodspeed was the last one who really did a lot of video work and that would be killer to help promote the club!
Glad you think the website looks good (*takes bow*) but what would your plan be to ensure more content was constantly being updated/posted? I think it's important to use the homepage/site as our main "face" and then have all the social channels as offshoots of that. Twitter has never really made sense to me for this club - we could always sunset it or keep using it with an actual plan going forward. Curious on your thoughts for those two channels...
