I remember doing something similar in the Challenger. Went to grab 4th and ended up pulling it back down into second with the pedal to the floor and fortunately the engine just said nope and basically cut off. Was lucky that I didn't blow that thing up and that it was on an empty highway. I really need to throw in a rev-limiter on the Demon because I've been told many times that small block Mopars will float the valves pretty quick. The bright side is that it always nice getting a good look at the pistons and cylinder walls, so you'll have some decent peace of mind once it's back together.
