You may have answered this somewhere else, but what cartridge did you go with?

Mmmmm, I love me a good magnum 

There was an extended debate amongst my gun friends over this. 

My OG plan was 6.5CR, like you. It had a lot going for it. I could run it in a large frame gas gun if I wanted, could buy a Ruger American and throw IT in the magpul chassis (someday, maybe, if magpul gets off their ass), and the ammo was becoming more and more common. 

BUT. I don't have a large frame gas gun or plans to make one. I don't have an option for a "good but also not heavy" chassis for the American, and the Ruger stock sucks on ice. I also have a dream to take a Roosevelt Elk one day, and while it's not like 6.5CR *won't* do it, I don't think anyone would argue that everything a 6.5CR can do, the Tree Hunnit WinMag does better. And I can buy it at Wal-mart. 

Put all that together, add in this:

And the decision was made. 

Also, and I shit you not, it was cheaper to buy the 700 in 300WM than it was to buy the Ruger in 6.5CR.
