My brother bought a CPO E9x M3 from a DC-area BMW dealer that turned out to have been stolen in the past. Somehow it didn't show up on CARFAX but the next buyer found out through some deeper search. Needless to say he went and had an unpleasant conversation with that dealer after the fact.
