i'm eating up these period correct mod bits. such a cool mini-story within the build. that ignition amplifier brings back soooo many memories of how RC electronics used to look in the 90's, which i love.
it might be worth your time to check out Isspro gauges as well. they make a very plain, all business face on their gauges that could be a match if you can't find VDO for certain needs. Chan turned me on to those and i had a boost gauge of theirs in my A4. decent unit.
good call on the coilovers. no need to get into some kind of intense track-level dampers if you just want to tie the car down a bit better and enjoy it. that'll be a good day, and probably bring out a whole new level of appreciation for the legendary handling those things have.
