Set-up got behind because the VMP guys weren't there to open the gate when they should have been. We improvised the best we could and started handing out registration forms and such outside the gate. Re-runs can only be avoided to a certain extent. The drivers were so close together it was hard to get out and replace a cone in such a short amount of time. Perhaps spacing the starts out just a little more in order to give workers time to make sure the course is set will cut down on re-runs.
Agreed on all counts... most of it was beyond MM's control and the event was great regardless. I wasn't criticizing, just making a statement about the things that will hopefully be avoided for tomorrow.
Chris and I will have a great course set up, tweaked, tested, and ready for course walks by 11:00am. The drivers meeting could be at 11:30 with plenty of time left to get cars lined up and rolling at 12:00 on the dot.
Also, calling the workers for the next heat to the timing table when there are still some cars left running in the previous heat makes the break between heats 5-10 minutes instead of 15-20 minutes. That alone can be as much as 30 minutes saved during the day.
Those two changes alone will easily make time for three heats of 25+ cars with 6 runs each.
See everybody tomorrow-
