So it looks like:
4A (Automatic Four-Wheel Drive)
• Set-and-forget function provides four-wheel-
drive capabilities when needed
• Under normal road conditions, most power is sent to the rear wheels
• As road conditions require, engine torque is sent to the front and/or rear wheels to help maintain optimum traction
• Setting is appropriate for any driving, whether on dry pavement or in adverse conditions
4A (4X4 AUTO)
Provides electronic control four-wheel
drive with power delivered to the front and
rear wheels, as required, for increased
traction. This is appropriate for all on-road
driving conditions, including as dry road
surfaces, but is especially useful on wet
pavement, snow, dirt, or gravel.
Looks like it is fine to use every day but there is no definitive answer on damage or wear. Just people arguing and thinking it could wear or destroy the clutch faster that engages/disengages when slippage is detected. I didn't plan on running 4A all the time and won't unless I'm off road or doing a quick pull. If I know I'm doing something crazy I'll lock in 4Lo. Doubt I'll ever need 4Hi and don't want to need to use it lol.
