There's no real way to effectively eyeball anything until you measure for a bit. I'd count everything for at least six months or so and then cut back as you see fit. It's really not that hard these days. I used myfitnesspal to read barcodes and once I had a good bit of food entered it was simply a matter of checking a few boxes everyday. It was nice to see the cause and effect of my diet on a daily/weekly basis.
