grabbed me a hefty mug of coffee and poked around under the hood this morning because it was too nice out to avoid some garage time.
interestingly, this Si was actually a Canadian delivery in Ontario, and stayed there for the first year until it lived the rest of its time in GA. if it ever saw snow, it certainly wasn't much....there's a dusting of rust on the battery tie down and that's it, which i'll just hit with some black spray enamel this weekend.
because of this the car came with a guage cluster that only shows temps in C and not F. unfortunately i can't program that out, the only solution is a cluster swap, and i'm not going to bother. so, looks like i have to give up my Imperial ways and learn how those hosers tell temps in Canadaland. also, 8,000! i'm gonna clean up at racewarz
i found some weirdness under the hood in the form of this thing.
this module was mounted on the shock tower and had leads to the battery. i came to find out its one of these "electromagnetic rust inhibitors" of what i would probably describe as having a....dubious...reputation for effectiveness. points to the PO for at least trying? but yeah, not even those super legit scientists at :45  can keep this from leaving via the trashcan.
