Is that fancy gear oil really necessary? We're talking less than 1000 miles a year on this pile. I see the price is the same, but we have some laying around already.

i didn't know if you plan to drive it on the street much so i erred on the side of more miles/use.

you should change the trans fluid regardless, just use something half decent. i tried cheap house-brand fluid one time and it foamed up like crazy and made my gearbox sound terrible for a while.
