Plus if it blows up, who's tab is it going on, what about crash damage repair, even if it's not "your fault" while driving, "agreed" value if destroyed, etc.

That is the realization I came to very quickly during our planning process. I get it though, it would be a blast to do with a group of friends, but when money is involved, things can get difficult.
