My Saturn weighed roughly 2300lbs and had no sporting presence whatsoever. No amount of suspension overhaul will make a Saturn chassis handle like a Porsche Cayman, weight be damned. I would say the same thing is true of a 100 something HP Miata chassis vs a Z06.Sure but the question is will the additional handling prowess of the Corvette chassis be enough to overcome a weight disadvantage of 800+ lbs? The Miata is already an excellent handling platform, even if it's not designed for 400 whp.
And a C6 Z06 has an extra 100hp, which doesn't hurt either
And 400 hp with 255 tires? No problem, I've got 200 hp going through one 190 tire and I can assure you it's no problem. Granted I've got really advanced traction control but still.
It's called balance. Have fun hauling a 400rwhp miata that is modified to the same level of grip as a corvette. There is a reason high horsepower cars are both longer and wider...
