Isn't the fob charging in the ignition a myth? I've seen it disputed often.

Unless they lied in the owners' manual, it's not a myth. The keys are just old by now so the batteries don't hold a charge as well. You can pry the key open and replace the battery (it's a standard size of something) but ask Maeng how that went on his X3...
