Since you have the latest model year E46, is there anything better about it than other M3s people in MM have had?

Minus the chest hair bit, I dunno. The 2003.5-2006 cars had LED taillights and I believe came slightly more well-optioned. They were also, in theory, less affected by the rod bearing and subframe issues, although from what I know an S54 is an S54 and all the trunk floors are made of tissue paper.
