The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread!

[Ken]

I haven't had a Mac in years and their extreme reluctance to update the lineup has me considering a Windows laptop to replace this ancient Dell sometime soon.

Just spoke with Joey on this yesterday actually. Toni's Macbook air is crapping out so i went to look to replace it with Apple and.... just fuck no. The Macbook regular runs on M processors... for $1300???? Are people that fucking stupid? MBPro is not much better, i5 with a tiny SSD and "retina" for $1300? No gracias. Non-retina means then you get a larger drive... at 5400RPM for $1100. All of this, by the way, on Broadwell chips. From 2014.

I get the point that their build quality is, subjectively, "better." But to sell blatantly old technology for just about the same price as when you released it two fucking years ago is outrageous.

Read up on the Samsung Spin 7, reviews are fantastic with some even saying the trackpad is just about as good as MBPro (Seriously, those trackpads are magic.) Got a Skylake i5, 1TB HDD, 13in FHD screen, 8GB RAM. They designed it so that you can upgrade easily, so i bought a 256GB SSD for the OS. All said an done, $800. Sorry, but even if the build quality is better, it's not $500 better and still having lesser specs, better.
