The rasp should die down slightly and the tone will also change slightly. It's what happened to my exhaust when I added a big resonator. You'll still probably have a small amount of rasp and a bit more mellow tone. Shouldn't take away from the exhaust note overall very much though. It's hard to explain.

Obviously your exhaust isn't going to sound anywhere near this but just to make you worry a bit less about the end product. I think you'll like it.
