Nothing much to report here other than I have put less than 3000 miles on it so haven't even hit the first oil change. The first two are free and I was told by the manual and service advisors to wait until the MID tells me it's ready for the first oil change. I just don't like the idea of factory oil sitting in the motor for that many miles, so I may get in there early with some Pennzoil Platinum I bought to get some good blood in it. I've emptied the catch can twice since installation and emptied over 2oz of oil that would have otherwise ended up in my intake....definitely a worthwhile investment for these engines.
I still really love owning a truck as a "daily". My buddy just leased a '16 Sierra Denali and that thing is so sweet...but man it is BIG. I helped him rearrange some stuff in his large L-shaped garage just to get it to fit in there length wise...width wise it feels tight with two cars in there. My truck really is the perfect size, it parks like a car and it fits in my garage. I am REALLY curious to see what happens to this mid-size segment once Ford releases the new Ranger. GM re-fired the segment with the Colorado / Canyon and having more competition is definitely a good thing!
So yeah, oil change and apparently there is a possible recall on the tow hitches. Some of the twins with the tow package apparently only got a 3,000lb hitch installed from the factory by accident instead of the 7,000lb...seems like a pretty big mistake. I will find out if mine is correct or not! My favorite tuner shop got purchased by a local truck modifying group so I am a bit bummed about that, I still want to get the level kit done soon. The dealer actually offers a leveling kit so depending on price I may go that route. Weathertech mud flaps are up next and eventually I'm still in for the OEM Kicker sub and a custom tune I think.
