The Long Awaited: The Myth, The Legend, The Douchebaggery

Well I finished up the oil pan project one night last week, and on Friday night Lauren and I decided to take it to the grocery store about a mile away as a little test drive. As we pull into the parking lot something pops and the car starts to hemorrhage coolant.

We rush it home, and Lauren gets to experience first-hand the joys of shutting the car off and coasting to every stoplight, and granny shifting as early as possible to try and maximize airflow per rpm. Luckily I got it home before the temp needle started to move, and I discover this.



Fuck. A. Duck.

Luckily, if you could call it that, it's just some stupid temperature sensor that warms the throttle body in cold weather to help with emissions or some shit. so it can be deleted instead of replaced. So inbetween cleaning the house and cooking for a Father's Day BBQ, and hosting said BBQ, I ripped the intake manifold off the thing and capped the fittings on the head and throttle body.







*grumble*

I have yet to put the MAF and intake tube back on because I had to add to my shitty little superglue patch on that charcoal canister or whatever the hell it is and I wanted to let it cure, plus family was pretty much walking through the door. Still need to fill the coolant back up, bolt the cross brace on, perform an exorcism, and try to drive it again. Hopefully for longer than a mile without breaking down.

Then, assuming it doesn't throw any more hissy fits, I can try to see if the door handle I bought at the junkyard is going to be usable, and I really ought to go ahead and replace the $10 shifter cup so that it stops grazing the driveshaft going in or out of 5th gear. If I remember right I can get the actual shifter out of the carrier without too much fuss to replace that part, its removing the actual carrier that turns into a big PITA.
