Project: Swagger Wagon
#25
Took the car on the first real highway miles this weekend. We loaded it up with camping gear for three days of car camping in eastern Washington (which is every part east of the Cascade mountains). There isn't a ton to say other can the car eats highway miles better than any car I've had in awhile. There are more electronics in this thing than in god's car and it's integrated well enough that it's not overbearing. Some things are total gimmicks, like text and email on the screen, but things like the heads up display is really cool. There's one feature that I've liked way more than I thought I would - blind spot detection. The car has a little warning sign that lights up on the inside of the side view mirror if any car is in your blind spot. If you turn on your signal, the steering wheel and gas peddle vibration quickly, but somewhat dull... just enough to get your attention without being jarring. I always turn my head, but I've had the warning spot a car a few times that I didn't expect to see there when I turned my head. Also, rear glass that opens? Totally thought it was gonna be a gimmick but came in really handy while camping. One thing I haven't gotten used to is the engine auto-shutoff when stopped. I had to turn it off in holiday traffic. :?

Other than that, this car is the tits. I'm really, really surprised how nice it is. I mean it should be for the money, but it wasn't that much more than what I paid for my brand new Legacy and this car is miles ahead.

Coming soon is tint. I also wouldn't mind a roof carrier.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
