OK, first off, glad you're okay and the car just needs some cosmetics. I suspect you weren't going as fast as you think you were as you impacted the tires. 30-40 mph would have done more damage. Anyway...
I'm with Scott, you can't say it's partially your fault as the one who was attempting to complete the pass and did not do so. There are plenty of people who will give you a point and not back off much or at all. Sometimes they don't realize the power gap, other times they think you'll get 'em in a braking zone, whatever. If you are continually frustrated being stuck behind Angry Porsche Lady or whatever, pull onto pit road and ask for space. You're not racing, there is no need to have an "outbrake the other" challenge into a turn. Be glad you didn't do what Aaron did and put your car into the passenger door of a Mustang.
That's the complete opposite of what you need. Use this as a lesson in awareness and think about when and where you want to both take and give passes. HPDE 3 is a hot mess of talent and you have to check your ego when you get on track. I know everyone wants that "perfect pass" on GoPro so they can win the YouTube awards on Monday morning, but DE 3 and DE 4 are still Driver Education first and foremost, whether you have some form of personal lap timer running or not. Even if you're TTing/racing, there are divebombs you shouldn't take.
