I used to park in neutral with the e-brake on for all of my past manual transmission cars, unless I was on a hill and I would leave it in 1st gear as a "just in case". I use the e-brake maybe 1% of the time in all of our automatic transmission cars, the parking pin seems to work fine unless the car is on a steeper hill and I may also engage the e-brake.
