Instead of cutting the trunk, build a support that is bolted to the frame rails that butts up against the wing mounts on the trunk, and bolt them through it. Sure you have to unbolt something to lift the trunk but that's better than cutting it up.

I dont mind cutting into the trunk. The way mine is built its just as easy to pop off the wing then getting perfect trunk alignment.
