Edit: I saw I missed your note about winding. Most watches nowadays are either automatics (powered and charged by the movement of your wrist) or quartz (battery powered). Automatics generally have a 2 day power reserve at best, so if you don't wear it every day and you don't want to reset it before you wear it, pick up a watch winder and keep it on that.

Still a bit confused, as I understand there are:
1) regular battery powered (like the one you have FS here)
2) "automatic" self-recharging battery
3) "mechanical", have to wind an old-school spring every day or two and accuracy depends on what you pay
4) "mechanical", "self-winding" which is still a spring, some people like this old stuff

So there are some cheap "mechanical self-winding" watches that I'm pretty sure I'm not up for. But are you confident "automatic" that's used in most of the titles of the ones you and I posted are example #2? I think that's what I want, but then you said they usually last a couple days without wearing, which sounds more like mechanical. I have a ~10 yr old Seiko "Automatic" (#2) that will shut down the hands and keep time for months in a drawer and wake up when you shake it, and is still on its original battery... so yeah I like that type.

Yes, battery powered is a quartz movement, automatic is self charging from motion. There are some mechanical watches out there still but they are either pretty rare / expensive, super cheap and junk or very, very old. That was why I put the emphasis on "most" watches being either quartz or automatics. And yeah if you see anything has an auto movement it would be #2. Swiss autos (ETAs, etc.) are generally more desirable and more expensive, Japanese movements (Miyota, etc.) are durable and reliable. Your Seiko is probably a "Kinetic" which is an interesting type of auto as I think it has a much longer power reserve because of that shut off feature...I have one too that broke when I think the seals failed when I wore it at the lake. It had the same feature.

If you really don't want to worry about keeping it charged, there are some skeletonized quartz watches out there I found by doing a quick search on Jomashop. Invicta actually makes a few it looks like. They're just a little harder to find more options for than autos. 8)
