The process is that I submit a mockup to brand mgmt company, they show it to Honda client, then approval comes back. Then I make production sample of shirt, send some to Honda in CA, then I get final approval/disapproval.G.Irish Wrote:Yeah it's been a bit of a challenge since I had gotten the design approved, made and shipped a sample, then the design was disapproved, made adjustments and shipped another sample which was disapproved, so now we're on the third sample with changes for the same design. The F1 engine design got approved on first try so at least that went better.
Hopefully the next few things will go a little more smoothly and the investment will start paying off.
would you / are you able to share what aspects they disapproved and how its been working with them? do you report to a corporate/HR division for approval or do you get to communicate with their design team?
With the RA272, the first version had the HONDA logo in red. The posted style guide said that was fine, and the mockup was approved. When I sent the samples in, 'no you can't use red version of logo'. They actually wanted me to use the version of the logo that was on the actual car at the time. Ok, no problem. Then after I updated and sent new samples, legal came back and said I had to remove the driver's name from the car. That was on the design from the start, but I guess legal took longer to circle back on things.
This wouldn't be a major deal but the brand mgmt->Honda loop can take days or weeks, and my printer has lead times of a week or more so one round of revisions can take a long ass time.
But it's just a process I'm learning. It is intimidating and I've procrastinated a bit because of that (and baby!) but I think we're getting on track here and I am excite.
