I have some experience with paint but it would definitely be a learning curve. If I got serious about wanting to do it I'd probably try and convince Jake that his life wont be complete unless his race car is purple next year so I can use it as a guinea pig. 
I noticed Raail posted recommended specs for a spray gun, it'd be interesting to see if they compare to the DYC sprayer. I've been assuming I could work my network of car friends and produce a sprayer to borrow if I do end up deciding to try this.
So back to the dip world, the "Glossifier" is old news right, and the "DipPearl Top Coat" is supposed to be the bees knees? I think the stuff I've been unimpressed with used the Glossifier. You used the "Top Coat" with all the pearl added in and it created the satin finish?
It's interesting stuff for sure, I'd definitely like to see some cars in person with similar finishes to what I'd want on my car and see if it still seems like a good idea.
