Obviously the week started off shitty... realizing I broke the seal on the pipe that runs between the thermostat and the water pump wasn't the surprise I was hoping for. After getting it pulled apart I decided to develop tennis elbow... UPS showed up at my house (on a day I took off from work to make sure I got the part and finished it left handed) but then left without dropping a box. They delayed me a day. SO... I punted to the local shop, with no parts on hand, not being the people to have taken it apart, and a one day turn around (from when the parts come in).
Friday night I go to the shop and help wrap up the car... it comes off the lift at 7pm and off to summit we went. I grabbed a box of cardboard and threw it under the car while it sat over night. I prayed a little.
Saturday morning I show up, pull the cardboard... two drips of oil (and after the sandwich plate issue i'll take two drops). I topped off the coolant, checked the oil, washed the windows... and it was time to rock and roll.
I spent the weekend trail braking Turn 1 to carry some speed, trying a different line in turn 3, pushing my luck in turn 4, compressing my brake zone in 5, "hooking" turn 9, and bombing through turn 10 using all the 460 tread wear tires and all the track.
I rolled some kids, got rolled (I'm sure Ryan has some arm out the window footage)... definitely didn't win HPDE1... but I was moved to HPDE2 for the next event I sign up for.
