Plan your first "post-student org night" meeting a bit differently and I bet it could happen - i.e. do it on a Friday evening (or Saturday) following the what, Wednesday SON, and shoot out an invite to the alums.
I remember one year where we did the "welcome to MM" thing at Cabell's house downtown and had a few guys show up on bikes - Channing and someone else - was a very cool surprise. I've gone down once or twice and it's always fun to meet the new guys right away.
