Interesting comment too about Simplisafe on a review site:
"For $14 you get nothing. They charge an extra $5 just to notify you in case of a alarm goes off. You still can’t go online and use the system like to change a code unless you upgrade to their top plan. The service is very poor and they could care less."
You can see why this was so stressful to me, there are so many hidden costs, fees, etc they don't tell you about with some of these companies. The one I settled on had some of the best pricing, flexibility best customer service out there. I also beat up the sales rep pretty good and got $645 worth of equipment for $99 (Amazon / Ebay piecing it together would have been about $330). I'm at $42.99 per month with the ability to add as much equipment to that as I want (zwave/fire/glass/water), interactive monitoring w/ app, hardware warranty, etc. The only real downside is I chose the three year agreement vs. the 1 year available, but it's fine for us because we can take it anywhere with us if we end up moving out of state (may happen in the next few years).
