The other thing that is interesting about the heavy subsidies from BMW is that I think Hyundai for instance has better residual value than BMW as a brand. That being the case, Hyundai lease rates should be at least on par with BMW lease rates (since lease payments are based on the depreciation rate). But BMW lease rates are still far and away better relative to the purchase price.
