doing nothing surely isn't the right answer.
an excellent point.
even if a candidate has no hope to win, getting votes, and getting the candidates name on the results reports is important to building a base following.

there is no such thing as not voting out of protest.
its called not voting out of laziness

To you it maybe not voting out of laziness, to me it's not voting out of disgust for the options available to me. I'm not saying that I'm protesting, I'm just not going to waste my time to have my vote go to waste. Third parties come and go so what's the point in "building a base" it'll just be someone new from another group next time. They receive no recognition because they don't build up enough interest and following prior to the election. Did you see any sort of option on TV last night that was tracking the third party electoral votes, no, cause everyone realizes they have no chance of winning.

For me doing nothing was the right thing morally, I didn't like either candidate that had any hope of winning so I chose not to vote. Now I know what some of you will say "the lesser of two evils" well I refuse to vote for someone because I dislike them less than I dislike another candidate. The lesser of two evils is still evil and it won't get any support from me to be put into power.

Am I going to support the country's decision, yes, will I voice my concern if that person starts to screw things up, yes, will I vote in the next election if there's a worthwhile candidate in my opinion, yes.
