Installed the new DV, it was easy aside from somehow losing a bolt and having to rummage through my collection of spares for one with the same thread pitch and length.
Shifts feel better but I'm still not getting the DSG fart, there's still a slight drop in boost right afterwards and then it surges back up. I tried to use the phone to create a graph of the boost but it erased it when i went to put the phone on wifi to email it to myself.
Whatever. After seeing the graph I realized how little boost it was actually dropping and how quickly it was building back up. It looked like maybe it dropped to 12lbs and took less than a second to get back to full chuff. Shifts at partial throttle feel totally normal. It sounds like something might be up with my car if Ken's still does the shift-fart thing at WOT with similar boost levels, but it's such a minor issue that I've decided I don't care. If anything gets worse I'll deal with it, if not it's fine the way it is.
Random side note, probably unrelated, the DSG went into fail safe mode the other day and got stuck in 1st gear. I pulled over and restarted it and it's been normal ever since, but it was a little unnerving. I think if the trans was actually acting up it would be shifting rough and starting/stopping rough(er than is normal for a DSG). If it does happen again I have a warranty on the trans until 100k so if anything it will just be an inconvenience.
Otherwise I'm pretty happy with this little thing. I still need to bleed the brakes and i think one of my front rotors might be slightly warped, so I might have to throw a set of front brakes on it eventually, but I'll probably procrastinate as much as humanly possible.
