Honestly if you were going to do something like that, an older B7 is probably a better place to start. I'm sure a full on K04 swap would void your warranty for most parts that are going to break, so paying for a B8 under warranty would be a bit of a waste. The only thing that really skeeves me out about those are the insane suspension setups with millions of little bushings, but if you were able to find one that had been recently refreshed you could forget about it for a few years.
The power you can get out of the K04 swap is nuts. GIAC claims 300-330hp/300-350ft-lbs for their tune with the S3 KO4 and S3 injectors. That would turn an Avant into like a Golf R-XL.
