considering regular production-line 300SL road cars go for well over a million, I dont even want to think what that SLR coupe is worth.

Wow great work, that is a crazy history too! I can't believe that is the car that caused MB to pull out of racing for a while. MAGNESIUM bodywork?? You would definitely not want to wreck that thing!!

Due to Mercedes' planned withdrawal from competitive motorsport at the end of 1955, the programme was abandoned, leaving Uhlenhaut to use one of the cars as a company car. This prolonged road use required the fitting of an extra suitcase-sized muffler to the near-unsilenced exhaust pipes to avoid arrest for breach of the peace.
