Just dip them black and that way you don't have to take them off and you can remove it if you don't like it. You don't even have to tape them for dip. Just tape off big box around them and spray it then peel off the dip That's not on the emblem. If you don't completely screw it up the elevation change between gate and emblem will give you a near perfect break every time.
As far as other emblems that don't belong on your truck....
