One thing worth mentioning is jobs. There are only so many cities in the US where you might not be screwed if you suddenly find yourself looking. I'd caution anyone from looking at any place not within reasonable commuting distance of a major city. That is unless you freelance or something. Then move to Montana or Wyoming because it is silly there.
