Parts are rolling in quickly, and I just booked my hotel for H20i; so time to get busy.
Spent some time cleaning and washing the LS6 intake manifold, squeaky clean inside and out
. The main work to be done was in the garage though. I installed the LS6 rear steam port block off plates in the rear, and went work on installing the ls6 valley cover.
The LS6 valley cover is a large improvement in breathing for the LS motors. Instead of breathing off the valve covers, it goes from the valley cover (in middle of motor). However the LS1 has a small tab that you have to grind/cut away.
You can see it with the pool of oil in the upper left hand corner of the valley.

After covering it up thoroughly (multiple layers as any shavings would fall onto the crank/cam! I went to work with the angle grinder and made quick work of the aluminum.

Comparison of new LS6 Valley cover to old LS1. I love GM parts, was relatively cheap, came with new gasket, and new bolts! You can see the breather in the pics.

Also the springs/retainers and improved racing oil pan baffle came in yesterday along with the GM LS2 timing chain upgrade. Went with Brian Tooley dual valve springs, and steel retainers for maximum longevity and performance.
