I had string kind back in the day and liked them when they worked. Then problem is, if anything gets between the lens and the roll, you are kinda screwed. They also only clear a 1 inch strip of goggle usually , depending on make, and maybe its better nowadays but I believe regular tearoffs are usually most of the lens surface.
