Project: 1995 Miata
Jeff Wrote:Looks great! The parts spend was low, its not just the BMW guys that will tell you that...my cost on a fuel injector (yes, one) for a 6.7L Cummins is like $400.

Holy crap. There's some perspective right there.

So, after I got home from JMU on Sunday (great carshow this year, guys) I decided that über-sunburn be damned, I might as well start spinning a wrench on this car.

I stopped in Strasburg on the way home and picked up the Memoryfab seats that were in Joe's Miata. The problem with most seats is the width. I really, really didn't want to hammer on my transmission tunnel to make seats fit, which is why the Sparco and Momo that I already have never made it to the car. These Memoryfab's came with slider brackets and dropped right in.

The stock seatbelts are retained - I moved the buckle to the trans tunnel as there is already a bolt hole for it (the 90-93 cars have the buckle there, versus seat-mounted). I have two six-point harnesses that are ready to go in, but I felt that drilling through my floor after a weekend of beer, excessive sun and not enough sleep would be in poor taste.

I did get the car up in the air and start removing some things.

So far, the catback has been removed as has the washer fluid bottle and all of the (nasty, moldy, eww) tubing. I stopped after yanking those parts, because I sat up and slammed my head into the open drawer of my tool chest... figured it was time to call it a day.

There's plenty of room to work on the car now, and I have a feeling that many a night will be spent pulling parts off.
