what is the safety mechanism that engages for a scissor lift if one of the hydraulics lets go? with a post lift IIRC they have a ratcheting system in place where if it loses lift somehow, it locks in place.

being under a car makes me pretty uneasy and i hope that never changes. i will definitely have a lift someday, but i'm not going near anything that doesn't have a stout failsafe.

Same thing as a post lift. You have to "unlock" the locks with air like you do a 2-post lift.
