If you look at 04-07 auto TLs, make sure to be careful of the A/T. They are not as bad as the prior gen but still notorious for having issues. Go to Acurazine and do a search for "pressure sensor switches" or something along those lines. My 07 TL-S had a transmission cooler, but I still made sure to swap out those switches and run good AT fluid.
I would also look at '01+ IS300. Talk about a bulletproof car...the only reason mine died was because a late 90s Merc hit it at about 50mph.
