need help deciding. my Potenza RE760's are just about toast. looking for another ultra high performance summer tire with a 280 treadwear or higher. i will have gotten the better part of 35k miles out of these 760's including an autocross and lots of hooning around, and they're 300 treadwear with plenty of grip, so i want to stay in that range for my needs. they stayed perfectly balanced and smooth...so far the longest lasting, best "performance" tire i've ever had, so count me as a bridgestone fan. these will be 205/55-16.
RE050A Polo Position - driven on these a few times and they have amazing grip for the kind of cars they tend to come on as OE equipment. very quiet, at least when new. should drive well in rain. i've heard they wear down quickly considering their 280 treadwear.
S-04 Pole Position - looks like a slightly more sporty version of the 050s? i'm trying to figure out where they stand in comparison. the tread looks less squirmy although i'm sure they'll ride louder. priced about the same, treadwear the same.
970AS Pole Position - the cushier option. seem to ride nicer and will last longer as well as not driving like wooden blocks in the winter. floppy sidewall, obviously less total grip, cheaper than the first 2.
Conti ExxxxxxxxxxtreeeemeContact DW - these seem to get great reviews for grip and wear while still having a decent sidewall. look like they'd be great in the rain. never had a conti before, anybody have feedback? priced well.
i'd like something thats ultimately not unbearable on the highway but will also not roll over and disintegrate at a random autocross once or twice a year. i'm expecting at least 25k miles out of them with a solid alignment. not too worried about snow...if it does, i'll take the 4x4.
