If they're making a turn onto a road where I'm going straight, then I have the right of way. I like to point that out when I can by scaring them with a calculated presence of my car. Please demonstrate otherwise, I like being proven wrong, but I don't think I have to wait for them.
I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as "equal right of way" as it kinda defeats the point. I know if two cars arrive at a 4-way at the same time, the car of the left must give way. I'm not certain what it is when you're opposing each other, but I'm pretty sure the left turning car must give way.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
