RPWIII Wrote:Well thats good to know for the Hyperdrive. How many Hyperdrives are there throughout the year? That sounds like a very helpful event, having the instructor with you the whole time. And I would definitely want to do a ride along before going out there. This event is next weekend?

And to answer the question, I did do some part time stripping over the summer which made me some serious cash. Haha jk. I just saved my money growing up and worked and saved and when it came time to buy my first car I was extremely lucky and my parents' helped pay. They said they would match whatever amount I could pay but that didn't happen because I had expensive taste and they were extremely loving and still hooked me up. So they paid a little more than half for my G. As for the Evo, I had the cash from what I sold my G for, and I got a loan for the rest from a small bank in my area (my parents' cosigned on the loan). So they've helped me out a great deal with my cars! Sometimes there too nice to me Smile

There's a NASA event once per month, from February to November. September, December and January are "bye" months for NASA due to Nationals in September and it being cold and miserable the other two months.

This one is not this coming weekend but the one after (October 7/8/9). Hypardrive is on Saturday. Us worker-folks have a hotel room or two, so there is a place to crash for free on Friday & Saturday nights. Plus, we always have some fun shenanigans after the day is done on Saturday -- definitely worth sticking around for.

Good for you for working and paying the loan. I've heard of parents agreeing to match what their kid can pay, which I think is a fair way to do things. If you think about it... say your parents were going to buy your first car anyway, well, you might end up with some $5000 Civic. If they match you, they're still putting down the same amount of money but you're getting a lot newer/cooler/nicer/whatever car that you probably care about more.

And I hear you on the parents helping out bit... mine let me defer that loan for something like two years... I kept buying parts for the Miata instead of paying them back. I think the final straw was when I wanted to buy an E30 last summer. Dad said I had to pay him for the first car before he'd let me put a second car on their insurance...
