Hey Everyone! My name is Bobby and I'm a sophomore Finance Major here at JMU. Didn't know about MM until late Spring my Freshman year and knew it was something I wanted to be a part of! Seems like a great group of people and I'm excited to be a part of the club. I'm really hoping to learn a lot more about all different car platforms.
My previous car was a 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe and I loved it. I starting modding it right when I got it and starting saving all my money for future plans. I started with basic bolt ons, then some exterior parts, and then more audio components. I had a lot planned for the car until I got in a bad accident in November with a deer driving South on 81. It was about 1230-1am and a deer jumped out 10 ft in front of me while I was going about 75mph. I slammed on the brakes and nailed it. My whole front end was all messed up and the car was pretty banged up (mainly cosmetic damages though). Airbags deployed and everything but I was fine. The deer wasn't so lucky (his guts and blood were all over my car).
The insurance company decided to fix it for some reason (they admitted later they should've totaled it) but I knew I wanted to sell it and move on to something different. I wanted something that could hold down some more power and something bigger so I could actually fit passengers. I'm 6'5" so it was tough riding in the G. I had the seat leaned pretty far back to fit...lol. It had two seats in the back that could fit little kids and thats about it...lol. So four doors was a must for my next car.
I knew I wanted something four doors and fun to mod, which led me to my current love, my 2008 WW Mitsubishi Evo X GSR. I wanted one for a while, even when I had my G35, and I came across a great deal on a used one with all the options I wanted with only 12,800 miles. So I couldn't be happier. It's my first manual car so the first two days were rough but now I pretty much got the hang of it (or at least I'd like to think so... lol). I couldn't be happier with the car and it makes some good power and the all wheel drive is amazing. I can't wait to see what it can do in the snow. It had some performance mods already installed and I've only done a few cosmetic things since I purchased it this summer. It came with an Invidia Q300 exhaust, Injen intake & UICP, HKS Blow off valve, and a tune (running 20 psi). I wish I knew more about the tune but I bought it from a small dealer and they wouldn't allow me to contact the previous owner and they didn't know. It also came with an AEM tru boost gauge, and HKS turbo timer. Since then I debadged it, installed some Rally Armor mudflaps, CF Vortex Generator, and CF Kansai side spats. Love the way the car looks now. Next on the list is a mild drop and some new wheels; probably wait til after winter.
I plan to have this car for a while and want to continue modding and learning more about this platform. I hope to get it on the track sometime this year and see what it can do. I've never participated in any track event so it'll be interesting to get out there. I'm hoping to learn a lot from you guys here at MM and am excited for this year!
Sorry for the long thread but for some reason I couldn't stop typing. haha.
Here are some pics (Thanks Matt for the tip on how to post!). They're cell phone pics so nothing fancy...haha.
