My stack of parts and shit pile for a car as an example this is based on a true story!
NASA TTC 1990 KRX Si
I asked to be dyno reclassed to compete in TTC as my final goal. I also had to provide my intended OR actual dyno HP, as well as the competition weight I would like. The swap information also had to be provided. The engine, its rated HP from Honda, etc. My two BASE CLASS options are:
1. TTD*: 180fwhp/2450lbs
2. TTD**: 181fwhp/2350lbs
(each * is equal to 7 points spent)
With 225/45/15 (vs the 245s at TTD base tire) I gain back 4 points. To go from TTD* to max out TTC (to include my tire size points) I have 36 points to spend. Points burn up quickly!
- Hoosiers/BFG R1s/etc = 10 points
- Transmission Gear Change (required due to swap) = 3 points
- Limited Slip (required because well it is) = 3 points
- OTS Koni Shocks = 3 points
- Ground Control sleeves/springs = 2 points
- Swap Bars = 2 points
- Front Cross Member Modification/Replacement (swap requirement)= 2 points
Total: 25 points 11 points left in TTD* and 4 points left for TTD**
So you get out on track and see what the car is doing. You want each of the next points to really count you need to pick up time because DJ the front wheel drive hater is still a little faster. Do you need big brakes? Some theories say thats a waste of points! Do you need aero to keep up with his HP on the straights? Do you go with TTD** to save weight and only play with 4 points? There is a ton of crap to go over!
- Big Brakes: 2 points
- Front Lip: 3 points
- Side skirts: 2 points
- Bumper holes: 1 point
- Wing: 3 points
- Etc
This is how I have attacked the epic need to bench race while I assemble all the required parts for the swap!
