Heh, I've never heard of people having problems with overheating or pinging just because they have a front license plate.... even with a FMIC. Generally, if you have a FMIC then you have plenty of surface area from which the intercooler can draw in cooler air.

I've seen FMICs that cover even more surface area than the one above.
Sure, it might not be as efficient to have a license plate on the front if you have a FMIC, but I really doubt it would lead to engine problems.
