I agree with the sentimental gun thing. When my father passed (2001) my mother obviously inherited all of his stuff. Over time she has allowed the kids to take things that were important to our father and had centimental value to us. I've got his coin purse, all his military stuff, and 2 or the 3 guns that he taught my twin brother and I to use. Russ was given the Smith & Wesson .38sp revolver. My mother gave me his JR Stevens bolt action .410 and his Ruger 10/22. Even though neither gun is in great shape I still take them out and clean them/shoot them from time to time, and I will never part with them. About 2 years ago my mother showed me a muzzleloader that my father was given by his father; the stock is cracked and cannot support the weight of the gun. My dad intended to restore it but it never ended up happening. I've been meaning to do the same thing, just haven't. I need to find somewhere that carries replacement wood stocks so I can make this into a mantle piece to hang in my office.
