Not trying to throw you under the bus here, but you're forming your opinion here over what you're reading on the internet and cars you've ridden in, not driven or lived with. I dont know anything about the shops that you mentioned, so they may be very good at what they do - but its a slippery slope when you start getting into custom shock work in terms of getting the right thing done. Its very hard to get a shock 'perfect' out of the box for the car, springs, conditions, a wide range of intended use (DD & Autox) and driver preferences so its a bit presumptuous to think it can be done over the phone. Can they get you in the ballpark? I'm sure they can, but I'd much rather have an adjustable shock, and even then its not always so simple as most of them are garbage.
