Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post

Stupid fucking thing started giving me the bullshit "open tray" error with the netflix update, which may or may not be related. At first all I had to do was remove the HDD, boot the console without it, shut her down and plug the HDD back in. Well last night, it was really stubborn and that fix wouldn't work. I had to slap the HDD in while the console was running, which can't be good for it.

Mine had that problem a couple months ago, I ended up sending it to get fixed and it did take right about 4 weeks, but they didn't even fix my xbox, they just send me a brand new one (still the old model, but brandy new)

I've been thinking about loading some games on the HDD to reduce wear on the optical, but I'm not really sure that will help. You still need to have the disc in the drive to play.


As far as Black Ops goes, or really CoD in general, I really wish they could come up with a better matchmaking system.

Your rank is really a function of how much you play the game, not really how good you are at it. If you play long enough you'll keep ranking up til the point where you're in matches with consistently better players than you. At least thats what my experience has been.

I think for certain game types it should take into account your K/D. I don't think my level 35 with a k/d of 1.0 is really competitive with the kid who is a 35 and a 3.5 K/D.

That's what Bungie was really good at, matchmaking. That, along with the fact that you lost experience after a certain point in the older Halos, meaning kids who played 24/7 didn't necessarily get promoted up.
