Even if you have a short 30 minute commute you would save somewhere around 250 hours a year on commuting, which amounts to 10 days of your life. And that's not even counting the time you take every morning to get dressed for work, iron your clothes, etc.
Right now it is "optional", but we are quickly moving to where that is not the case
